Class Descriptions

Dance with Me (18 - 24 months): This fun upbeat class is for children ages 18 months to 24 months and their parent or caregiver. Circle time, stretching, various dance movements & styles, obstacle courses, props, instruments, boogie time & more!

Two Much Fun (age 2): A special Creative Movement class for toddlers without a parent. Children must be two years old at the time of the first class.

Creative Dance (Ages 3-4): A basic introduction to dance, focusing on ballet. Your little ones will love to pile, passé and echappe with props and themes.

Creative Dance II (Age 4 - 5): This class is a continuing class for students that have completed one year of Creative Dance and are 4 years old.

Tumble Rhythm (Ages 4-5): Basic tumbling will be learned with a twist of rhythm movement.

Tumble Rhythm II (Ages 4-5): This class is a continuing class for students that have completed one year of Tumble Rhythm and have instructors approval.

Beginning Ballet/Tap (Ages 5-6): This class is ½ Ballet and ½ Tap. Students will continue their education in Ballet but get a chance to try a second form of dance. Tap shoes are required.

Beginning Ballet/Jazz (Ages 5-6): This class is ½ Ballet and ½ Jazz. While continuing their education in Ballet, students will enjoy learning a second form of dance. Jazz shoes are required.

Beginning Ballet/Tap II and Beginning Ballet/Jazz II (Ages 5-7): Students must have taken a full year of the level I class and have instructors approval for this class.

Explore Dance (Ages 5 -7): This class is a beginning ballet class but also offers the student a sampling of the classes we offer such as jazz, tap and tumbling for 5 - 7 year olds.

Musical Theatre (Ages 7 - 12): Dancers will learn to move in the Broadway style of dance. They will learn basic jazz and acting to songs from musicals.

Baton Twirling (Ages 7 - 12): Students will learn basic twirling skills while developing hand - eye coordination, baton terminology, proper form and hand placement. Baton is needed.

Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Lyrical (Ages 7-18):

Ballet
Classical ballet is taught at our academy. Cecchetti and Russian methods are used to instruct the dancers. Proper technique and terminology is highly emphasized.

Jazz
Jazz is similar to Broadway type dancing. Technique with turns and leaps is a focus as well as proper placement of arms and legs during dance moves.

Tap
Traditional tap is taught in our beginning classes. As students progress, new popular forms of tap are introduced and studied.

Hip Hop (Ages 7 - 18): Learn to dance like your favorite pop/hip-hop singer in this hip-hop, funk, all out jazz it up class. Some jazz technique will be incorporated into the hip-hop instruction.

Lyrical (Ages 7 - 18): Pre-requisite: Student must be enrolled in Level II+ Ballet. A poetic style of dancing with a lovely, flowing quality that tells the story of the music. Movements from Ballet and Jazz are combined.

Students will receive continual dance training in five different levels.
Class Placement is determined by ability, experience and age.

Level I: Basic Beginning. Pre-requisite: None

Level IA: Advanced Beginning. Pre- requisite: Basic Beginning

Level II: **Beginning intermediate. Pre-requisite: 2 years Level I

Level III: **Intermediate. Pre-requisite: 2 years Level II

Level IV: **Advanced Pre- requisite: 2 years Level III

Level V: **Pre - Professional Pre - requisite: 2 years Level IV
**Instructors approval needed.

Pointe (Ages 11+): Pre-requisite: Student must be enrolled in a Ballet class Level II or above. For Intermediate and advanced Ballet students that are technically prepared. Instructor`s approval required.

Dance Tech (Ages 11 - 18): Whether you have taken a dance class before or not, this class will strengthen your ability, improve your form and technique. It will help you to become a better all around dancer. Perfect for "poms" or "cheerleaders" or anyone who will be trying out for either.

Adult Classes (Ages 17+): We offer adult classes in ballet, jazz/hip hop and tap.
